New to the forum.. Own a temperamenta restored Dodge D100

Post by Perre » Fri May 05, 2017 1:05 pm

So I bought a old 1967 D100 3.8l Slant six from my cousin in December 2015.

Had it restrored. New electrics, new roof lining, new spray job, new loadbin, new electrics, new leather seat, new floor carpets, new roof lining etc.

First day I took delivery the chaos started.

Left front studs never torqued properly. Left me stranded next to the road (white wall insert torn, chrome hub cracked). Wheel damaged. All nuts and studs stripped.

After weeks get that sorted, tyre guys tell me you have no front shocks. Im like ok fit them, 10min later they call and say top right shock mount not there. They take left front one off and I go to engineering shop to have one custom made. Get shocks fitted.

Try starting it. It struggles. The tyre guys see airflow valve on carb is closed.

Car revs great at idle and in neutral. But under load really struggles. So think something is up with timing or distributor.

Just a few of my issues currently being experienced. Resto guys lost one inside door handle. They lost my door rubbers for the windows. They lost my rearview mirror. So still loads of issues and stuff to fix.

Will upload a pic or two when I get a chance

Welkom hier - en deel asb jou ervaringe - daar is heeltemal te veel van die klas van ding wat aangaan - manne dink hulle weet hoe om te restoureer, en dink hulle kan soos flippie foose aangaan - DIT WERK NIE SO NIE

So a mechanic came out to give the D100 a once over. 4 of 6 spark plugs are shot. Explains the struggling under load. Distributor points were dirty as hell. And the transmission fluid is more like transmission sludge.

Better news - is the mechanic knowledgeable regarding slant sixes and mopars in general?
